About
Inspired by the iconic novel “El ingenioso hidalgo Don Quixote de la Mancha” by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, the performance brings to life the story of a nobleman whose obsession with tales of chivalry leads him on a delusional yet noble quest for justice and adventure. This vibrant and spirited ballet showcases the technical brilliance and passionate artistry that define CCBM’s signature Cuban ballet tradition.
In addition to Don Quixote, the Gala Program includes:
“Esmeralda Pas de Six” – Inspired by Victor Hugo’s Notre-Dame de Paris, this ballet follows the story of the enchanting Esmeralda and her ill-fated love for Captain Phoebus. Originally choreographed by Jules Perrot (1844) and later revived by Marius Petipa (1886).
“Odalisques Pas de Trois” – A dazzling excerpt from the ballet Le Corsaire, this trio features the graceful and intricate choreography of the harem girls, showcasing delicate precision, charm, and classical beauty at its finest.
